MATTA, PIKOM Sign MoU To Embark On Technology Solutions For Members

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Association of Malaysia (Pikom) for a collaborative partnership on the framework for cooperation between both parties.

The MoU includes development for cooperation and partnerships to promote travel and tourism industry and the ICT industry through activities of networking, marketing and promotion.

MATTA president Datuk Tan Kok Liang, in a statement today, said the association would be exploring collaboration on digital platforms to promote local tourism while introducing support expertise for the benefit of members of both parties.

“With the rapid growth of tech-savvy generation, a strategy that focuses on digital at the centre of operations will become essential for businesses.

"It is important for travel and tour agencies to adapt and implement technology solutions to remain competitive," he added.

Pikom was represented by its chairman Chin Chee Seong.

The MoU will accelerate the implementation of technology solutions to endeavour in creating more business opportunities and better business conditions for Matta members, thus contributing towards the growth of the industry.

The statement noted that MATTA is looking forward in facilitating its members with technology solutions to use and compete in the market, while promoting local tourism through digital platforms for the benefit of the industry.
