MATTA Says Timing Of Airport Tax Revision Not Right

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) says the timing is not right in respect of the revision of the new Passenger Service Charge (PSC), also known as the airport tax.

The President, Datuk Hamzah Rahmat in a statement said, the 83% and 56% increase in the PSC for domestic and international flights respectively at the KLIA2, would hurt passengers much more than the budget airlines operating from the terminal.

He was commenting on the announcement by the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MavCom) yesterday that the new PSC would be effective Jan 1,2017.

"Matta is not against the revision of the PSC if done in a fair and consistent manner," he said.
