MATTA Travel Online Portal - Bring Technology To Global Tourism Economy

Kuala Lumpur, 1 June 2016: The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) launched its first online travel portal - www.matta.travel on 1st June 2016 at Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTIC), Jalan Ampang.

The event was launched by YB. Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Culture. MATTA is looking forward to bring MATTA.travel to contribute in the global tourism economy, and bring benefit to the nation and its members.

Also attended the event were Ybhg. Datuk Seri Mirza Mohammad Taiyab, Director General of Tourism Malaysia; YBhg. Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud, Director of Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board; Puan Nor Yahati Awang, Secretary of Tourism Licensing Division; and Encik Iskandar Mirza Mohd Yusof, Domestic Promotion Director of Malaysia Promotion Tourism Board.

The launch of MATTA.travel portal was in response to the increase of online marketplace provided by multiple third parties which have attracted millions of consumer around the world. MATTA, as the national travel association takes the initiative to provide platform to its members in the new digital travel landscape. Through MATTA.travel, MATTA supports its members to

overcome issues like cost of web development, promotional, and the hassles of online transaction.

According to YB. Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Culture, “The best way for travel industry players to help boost the country’s tourism economy is to collaborate through an integrated online platform where the complexity of technology adoption and cost of collaboration will be minimal. Such a platform is not easily conceived but kudos to MATTA which has taken a bold step in that direction and successfully built MATTA.travel.”
