Blow to S'kan tourism: MATTA

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) urged the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) to review the Kota Kinabalu-Sandakan route operated by MASwings that had been removed based on the new Public Service Obligations (PSO) 2019 Agreement effectiev Jan 1, 2019.

MATTA President Datuk Tan Kok Liang (pic) said air connectivity plays a crucial role in helping to facilitate Sandakan's tourism development. The decision to remove the Kota Kinabalu route has limited the potential tourism development for Sandakan as a key eco-tourism destination.
